Ingredients
- 1 Packung Puff pastry (or shortcrust pastry)
- 700g Fresh or frozen cherries (pitted)
- 150g Granulated sugar
- 3 Esslöffel Cornstarch
- 1 Teelöffel Lemon juice
- 1/2 Teelöffel Almond extract
- 1 Prise Pinch of salt
- 1 Esslöffel Butter (cut into small pieces)
- 1 Egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Prepare a pie dish (approx. 23 cm diameter).
- In a large bowl, combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, almond extract, and salt.
- Roll out half of the puff pastry and place it into the pie dish. Add the cherry filling and dot with butter pieces.
- Roll out the remaining puff pastry and place it over the filling as a lid. Press the edges firmly and optionally cut a pattern or make vent slits with a knife.
- Brush the top crust with the beaten egg.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Let cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
