Ingredients
- 2 Tassen Fresh or frozen corn kernels
- 1/2 Tasse Pre-cooked corn flour (Harina P.A.N. or similar)
- 1/4 Tasse Granulated sugar
- 1/4 Tasse Coconut milk
- 2 Esslöffel Melted butter
- 1 Teelöffel Anise seeds, crushed (optional)

Instructions
- If using frozen corn, thaw it. Blend corn kernels in a blender or food processor until a coarse paste forms. Do not over-blend.
- Transfer the corn paste to a large bowl. Add pre-cooked corn flour, sugar, coconut milk, melted butter, crushed anise seeds (if using), and salt. Mix well until a slightly sticky dough forms.
- Let the dough rest for 10-15 minutes to allow the corn flour to hydrate.
- With lightly floured hands, form small patties, about 1 cm thick and 7-8 cm in diameter.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the arepas in batches for 3-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
