  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into approximately 10x10 cm (4x4 inch) squares.
  3. Cut the guava paste into thin slices or small cubes. Beat the cream cheese with sugar until smooth.
  4. Place a dollop of cream cheese mixture and a piece of guava paste in the center of half of the puff pastry squares.
  5. Moisten the edges of the squares with a little water. Place the other half of the puff pastry squares on top and press the edges with a fork to seal.
  6. Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let cool on a wire rack and serve warm or at room temperature.
