Ingredients
- 1 Packung (ca. 400g) Puff pastry, thawed (approx. 400g / 14 oz package)
- 200g Guava paste, diced
- 100g Cream cheese, room temperature (optional)
- 1 Stück Large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 2 Esslöffel Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, unroll the thawed puff pastry. Size may vary, but aim for about 1/8 inch (3mm) thick. If pastry comes in 2 sheets, unroll both.
- Cut each puff pastry sheet into 6 squares (for a total of 12 pastelitos if using 2 sheets).
- Place a teaspoon of guava paste and optionally half a teaspoon of cream cheese in the center of each square.
- Carefully fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to form a triangle or square, pressing the edges with a fork to seal.
- Place the pastelitos on the prepared baking sheet and brush with the beaten egg wash.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
