Tarte au Sucre is a simple yet delicious French cake originating from northern France. It consists of a sweet yeast dough topped with a mixture of sugar and cream, then baked. The result is a caramelized, sweet treat, perfect for breakfast or coffee.

Ingredients
- 250g All-purpose flour
- 50g Sugar
- 7g Active dry yeast
- 125ml Lukewarm milk
- 50g Softened butter
- 1 Egg
- 1 Prise Salt
- 150g Brown sugar (for topping)
- 100ml Heavy cream (for topping)
Instructions
- Combine flour, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Add milk, softened butter, and egg, then knead to form a smooth dough. Add a little more flour if needed.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan assisted). Grease and flour a tart pan (approx. 24 cm).
- Roll out the dough and place it into the prepared tart pan, forming a slight edge.
- Press indentations into the dough with your fingers. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top.
- Pour the heavy cream over the sugar.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the cake is golden brown and the topping is caramelized.
- Let cool and cut into slices. Serve warm or cold.
