Ingredients
- 250g All-purpose flour
- 5g Instant yeast
- 1 TL Sugar
- 1 Prise Salt
- 150ml Warm water
- 100g Brown sugar
- 1 TL Cinnamon
- 50g Chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts, peanuts)
- 2 EL Cooking oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the warm water and knead everything into a smooth dough. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into 6 equal pieces. Form each piece of dough into a small ball.
- Flatten each dough ball, place about 1-2 tablespoons of the sugar-nut filling in the center, and carefully bring the edges of the dough together to completely enclose the filling. Make sure the filling is well sealed so it doesn't leak out during frying.
- Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add some cooking oil. Place the filled dough balls seam-side down in the pan.
- Fry the hotteok for about 1-2 minutes, then flip them over and press them flat with a spatula or a special hotteok press. Fry for another 2-3 minutes until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve the finished hotteok immediately and enjoy them hot. Be careful when opening, as the filling can be very hot.
