Ingredients
- 500 ml Unsweetened soy milk
- 2 EL Sugar
- 2 Stück Youtiao (Chinese fried dough sticks)
- 1 Prise Salt
- 1 TL Toasted sesame seeds
- 1/2 TL Grated ginger
- 1 EL Chili oil (optional)
- 1 EL Chopped spring onions (optional)
Instructions
- Pour the unsweetened soy milk into a medium saucepan and heat over medium heat until hot, but not boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
- Add the sugar and a pinch of salt. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness as desired.
- While the soy milk is heating, you can gently warm the Youtiao if desired. This can be done in a dry pan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until crispy, or briefly in the microwave for 30 seconds.
- Pour the warm soy milk into two serving bowls. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and add a small amount of grated ginger for an extra aromatic kick.
- Serve the warm soy milk immediately with the crispy Youtiao for dipping. Enjoy this traditional Chinese breakfast that is both filling and comforting.
- For a touch of heat, you may optionally add a teaspoon of chili oil.
- For added freshness and a nice color contrast, sprinkle with chopped spring onions.
