Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat your toaster to a medium setting or your oven broiler to 200°C (400°F). This ensures the bread toasts evenly and crisply.
  2. Toast the bread slices for 2-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to burn them, to avoid a bitter taste.
  3. While the bread is toasting, peel the garlic cloves and cut them in half lengthwise. This makes them easier to rub and releases their essential oils.
  4. Remove the toasted bread slices from the toaster or oven. Vigorously rub each slice of bread with the cut side of the garlic halves. The garlic should slightly abrade and impart its flavor deeply into the bread.
  5. Generously drizzle extra virgin olive oil over each garlic-rubbed slice of bread. Ensure an even distribution so the oil soaks slightly into the crispy bread.
  6. Sprinkle each tostada with a pinch of sea salt flakes and some freshly ground black pepper. The salt and pepper enhance the flavors and provide a pleasant texture.
  7. Serve the tostadas immediately. Optionally, you can garnish them with freshly chopped parsley or sprinkle a pinch of smoked paprika for an additional flavor note.
