Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the mixture until well soaked but not falling apart. About 20-30 seconds per side.
  3. For the berry compote, bring the berries and lemon juice to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the berries are soft and a compote consistency forms.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter in it.
  5. Place the soaked bread slices in the skillet and fry until golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Arrange the Pain Perdu on plates, drizzle with the berry compote, and dust with powdered sugar.
