Pear Clafoutis
Clafoutis is a traditional French dessert from the Limousin region, resembling a thick pancake or a type of baked pudding. In this variation, juicy pears are baked in a sweet, egg-rich batter. A simple yet delicious dish.

Ingredients
- 3 Ripe pears (e.g., Williams Christ)
- 3 Large eggs
- 100g Granulated sugar
- 1 Päckchen Vanilla sugar
- 70g All-purpose flour
- 250ml Whole milk
- 50g Melted butter
- 1 Prise Pinch of salt
- 1 EL Calvados or pear brandy (optional)
- Puderzucker Confectioners' sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease an ovenproof dish (approx. 24 cm diameter) with a little butter.
- Peel, core, and slice the pears into approximately 1 cm thick wedges. Arrange the pear slices evenly in the prepared dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk eggs with granulated sugar and vanilla sugar until frothy.
- Stir in flour and salt until no lumps remain. Then gradually add the milk and melted butter, mixing everything into a smooth batter. Optionally, add the Calvados.
- Pour the batter over the pears in the dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 35-40 minutes, until the clafoutis is golden brown and feels firm in the center.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and dust with confectioners' sugar before serving. Serve warm.
