Ingredients
- 500g Beef sirloin or rib-eye
- 4 EL Soy sauce
- 1 Asian pear (grated)
- 4 Zehen Garlic (minced)
- 2 EL Sesame oil
- 1 EL Rice wine or Mirin
- 1 EL Brown sugar
- 1 TL Toasted sesame seeds
- 1/2 TL Black pepper
- 2 Frühlingszwiebeln Green onions (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
- Slice the beef against the grain into thin pieces. For optimal tenderness, freeze the meat for 30 minutes before slicing.
- For the marinade, combine the grated Asian pear, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine, brown sugar, sesame seeds, and black pepper in a large bowl.
- Add the beef slices to the marinade and mix well, ensuring each piece is coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, ideally 2-4 hours, to deepen the flavor.
- Preheat a grill or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little oil if your pan is not non-stick.
- Place the marinated beef in a single layer on the pan or grill. Do not overcrowd; cook in batches if necessary.
- Sear each side for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned and cooked to your desired doneness. The beef cooks very quickly, so be careful not to overcook it.
- Serve the finished Korean BBQ immediately, garnished with fresh green onions. It pairs wonderfully with rice and various banchan (Korean side dishes).
