  1. For the skordalia: Combine mashed potatoes, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt in a bowl until a creamy consistency is reached. Add a little water if needed.
  2. Cut cod into approx. 10 cm pieces, season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Gradually add the beer or sparkling water, stirring to form a smooth batter.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer to 180°C.
  6. Dip the fish pieces in the batter and fry in the hot oil until golden brown and crispy (approx. 5-7 minutes).
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve the fried cod with the skordalia.
