  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F) conventional heat. Grease and flour a 22-24 cm springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, incorporating each egg completely before adding the next. This ensures a light and airy texture.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared springform pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for about 35-40 minutes in the preheated oven. To check for doneness, insert a wooden skewer into the center; if it comes out clean, the cake is ready. If the cake is browning too quickly, you can reduce the temperature by 10°C during the last 10 minutes of baking.
  7. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Before serving, dust generously with powdered sugar. The cake should be completely cooled before serving.
