Ingredients
- 250g Flour
- 1 TL Sugar
- 1 TL Active dry yeast
- 1/4 TL Salt
- 200ml Lukewarm water
- Pflanzenöl Vegetable oil for frying
- 100ml Honey
- 1 TL Cinnamon
- 2 EL Chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl.
- Gradually add lukewarm water, whisking to form a smooth, thick batter.
- Cover the batter and let it rise in a warm place for about 45-60 minutes, until bubbly.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 170°C (340°F).
- Using two spoons, scoop small portions of batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil.
- Fry the loukoumades until golden brown on all sides (about 3-4 minutes per batch).
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Warm the honey with cinnamon.
- Drizzle the loukoumades with the honey-cinnamon syrup and sprinkle with walnuts if desired.
