These traditional honey cookies are typically baked for Christmas but can also serve as a sweet breakfast option. They are soft, spiced, and enhanced with honey and nuts.

Ingredients
- 400g Olive oil (light)
- 100ml Orange juice
- 50ml Brandy or Metaxa
- Abrieb von 1 Orange zest from 1
- 1 TL Cinnamon
- 1/2 TL Ground cloves
- Prise Nutmeg
- 600g Flour
- 100g Semolina (fine)
- 1 TL Baking powder
- Für die Siruplösung: For the syrup solution:
- 200g Honey
- 100g Sugar
- 100ml Water
- 1 Scheibe Orange slice
- Zum Bestreuen: For sprinkling:
- 100g Walnuts, chopped
Instructions
- For the dough: Mix olive oil, orange juice, brandy, orange zest, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Combine flour, semolina, and baking powder, then gradually add to the liquid mixture until a soft dough forms. Do not overwork.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Shape the dough into small oval cookies.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 20 minutes, until lightly browned.
- For the syrup: Boil honey, sugar, water, and orange slice, then simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool.
- Dip the warm cookies into the cold syrup for about 30 seconds.
- Drain on a wire rack and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
- Let cool completely before serving.
